We have a new exhibition by Sarah Wimperis up in the gallery!

‘Home Again’ is open until the 19th July and features a new series of paintings by Sarah, depicting scenes around her home and near the Helford. These pieces are produced en plein air, with larger works using studies as reference which are then completed in her studio.

“Home will always be the place for which you feel the deepest affection, no matter where you are. Having spent five months living and working in a place far from home the colours and textures of home suddenly seem all the more vibrant. I have found much joy in relaxing back into subjects that I know and love. Familiar places and themes reoccurring. Gardens that belong to friends, gardens that I visit often, both in Cornwall and further afield. The Helford River from the water and from the paths that run alongside. Coming home feels so good! ”

Sarah now spends her time travelling, painting and teaching across the UK and Europe. She is a keen sketchbook keeper and has recently begun releasing these exquisite books, with each page an original painting, as final works themselves. The latest two can be found as part of this collection.

Sarah has just returned from working on the first fully painted feature film, ‘Loving Vincent’ documenting the life and death of Vincent Van Gogh, to be released later this year.
